MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AGAIN: DEFEND MINING IN MINNESOTA FROM FEDERAL MINERAL WITHDRAWAL
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently proposed the withdrawal of hundreds of thousands of acres of federal lands from mineral exploration and mining development – proposals that would cripple the future economies and communities of northeast Minnesota.
Should the withdrawal proposal be enacted, it will cause the state to lose the potential for thousands of mining jobs, billions of dollars in revenues for Minnesota’s K-12 education system and billions in economic investment in the region.
The proposed withdrawal will also shut out the domestic source of raw minerals needed to combat the climate crisis. Minerals that the U.S. is currently reliant on foreign sources for including Russia and China.
Twin Metals encourages you to support the future of mining in northeast Minnesota by voicing your concerns to the USFSand BLM by January 19, 2022.
