Julie Padilla

Chief Regulatory Officer

As Chief Regulatory Officer, I lead Twin Metals’ effort to move the project through environmental review and permitting by aligning our legal, environmental, public relations and governmental relations activities. My goal is to advance a project that reflects our responsibility and leadership as members of a technology-based society. Mining is the very beginning of the supply chain for much of the activity that supports our daily lives. As a conservationist and ecologist, I believe that we need to mine responsibly and take leadership and ownership of the minerals we need in our society. We have significant and important resources in Minnesota that can contribute to our economic security under the strictest of environmental and labor standards.

Prior to joining Twin Metals, I worked in a role that allowed me to advance financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects nationally. I was a partner at a Minneapolis law firm, and I have worked in government at the state and local levels. I am proud of work that I have done to develop new thinking around renewable energy projects and commercial and residential project financing. I am also proud of work that I contributed to that strengthened protections for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

I grew up in Rockford, Illinois, and I currently live in Blaine. I moved to Minnesota for college in 1993, and I haven’t left. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, gardening, travel and playing with my dog.
