Julie Lucas

Director of Water Resources

As part of the Twin Metals technical team, I oversee all water programs, including modeling and monitoring work; management of the project water balance; and development of water management structures and systems. It is incredibly important to me to determine the best ways to manage and protect our state’s most critical natural resource – water. I’m passionate about balancing environmental stewardship with safe, sustainable development of the minerals we need in our everyday lives and as the need for clean energy technologies increases.

Prior to joining the Twin Metals staff, I worked as the Environmental Manager at Hibbing Taconite Company, as an environmental consultant and as an adjust biology and chemistry professor.

I am a lifelong Minnesota resident, and I currently live with my husband Matt in Side Lake, which is located west of Ely. Outside of work, I serve on the Board of Directors for both the United Way of Northeast Minnesota and the Minnesota Discovery Center. I’m also an ACE-certified group fitness instructor and health coach and enjoy hiking, snowshoeing and kayaking around the Iron Range.
