Erik Carlson
Manager, Environment and Sustainability
Through engagement with regulatory agencies, I’m responsible for completing state and federal environmental review and permitting processes to meet agency expectations. In this role, I oversee baseline data collection and impact analysis and reporting. My goal is to deliver for Minnesotans the most environmentally sound mining project supported by the best science.
As a Peace Corps volunteer in Romania, I worked on environmental issues with non-governmental organizations. I have also worked at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Pollution Control agency and in consulting. In these roles, I have enjoyed finding solutions to meeting resource needs while protecting the environment.
I was born in northern California and have also lived in Oregon and Washington. My family and I now live in St. Paul where we have been for the last 12 years.
Mountain biking with my son, canoeing, camping and seeing live music are a few of the things I enjoy doing outside of work. There’s no place I’d rather be than Minnesota in the fall.
