Bob McFarlin is vice president of public and government affairs of Twin Metals Minnesota, focusing on stakeholder and community relations, corporate communications and federal and state legislative affairs.
McFarlin brings 30 years of public affairs experience to Twin Metals Minnesota. Prior to joining Twin Metals, McFarlin was a vice president in the corporate, community and public affairs practice in the Minneapolis-St. Paul office of Weber Shandwick. McFarlin also served 14 years (nonconsecutive) in public service in a variety of public and government affairs roles at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) and was appointed acting commissioner of Mn/DOT by former Governor Tim Pawlenty in February 2008. McFarlin has also served as president of MCF Consulting Group; executive director to the Board of Trustees at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities; public affairs director for the Minnesota Petroleum Council and as staff to the Minnesota House of Representatives.
A Minnesota native, McFarlin is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in speech communication. McFarlin’s breadth of knowledge encompasses the public and private sectors in transportation, energy, local government, education finance and general public policy.
