Minnesota Jobs for Generations
Once operational, the Twin Metals Minnesota project will provide hundreds, potentially thousands, of long-term, well-paying jobs for generations of Minnesotans. The Twin Metals Minnesota project has the potential to be among the world’s largest and lowest-cost sources of copper, nickel and platinum group metals for nearly a century.
In 2009, the University of Minnesota-Duluth found that more than 12,000 construction jobs and 5,000 long-term mining jobs will be created in Minnesota if all strategic metals mining projects currently under study move forward and become operational. In addition, the Twin Metals Minnesota project will produce a significant amount of spin-off economic development, including up to 2.6 indirect jobs for every direct job provided, in areas such as supplier/vendor businesses, retail activity, restaurants and manufacturing businesses, among others.
Twin Metals Minnesota will employ a wide variety of jobs, including:
• Business administration
• Carpenters
• Drillers
• Electricians
• Engineers
• Geologists
• IT professionals
• Mapping experts
• Mechanics
• Mine designers
• Miners
• Safety inspectors
• Truck drivers
