Twin Metals Minnesota (TMM) is proud to invest in our northern Minnesota communities. TMM is working every day to build sustainable partnerships with local schools, businesses and community organizations, with a focus on five pillars of community support – health and wellness, economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and personal and community safety. Since its creation in 2010, TMM has provided more than $300,000 in financial support to a variety of community organizations, including:

United Way of Northeastern Minnesota: Since 1966, United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN) has been a volunteer-based organization serving the needs of individuals and families on the Iron Range (Northern St. Louis County and Eastern Itasca County) and Koochiching County. The UWNEMN was formed to serve the needs of the entire northeastern region and create a more cohesive organization. UWNEMN currently supports 60 partner agencies throughout northeastern Minnesota and its own initiatives in the key areas of helping children succeed, empowering healthy lives, and stabilizing families and individuals. http://www.unitedwaynemn.org/

Ely Area Food Shelf: The mission of the Ely Area Food Shelf is to provide a resource for people living in Ely, Minnesota, and the surrounding communities who have run out of options to alleviate hunger. The guiding principles of the Ely Area Food Shelf are that no one should go hungry and communities have a responsibility to ensure that its members are not in distress because they lack food. http://www.elyareafoodshelf.org/

Precambrian Research Center: The primary mission of the Precambrian Research Center (PRC) is to address the new demand for professional field geologists by providing training and support to upper-level undergraduate students, graduate students and professional geologists in modern methods of geological mapping and map-making in glaciated Precambrian terrains. The concept for such a center evolved as a result of collaboration between three geosciences institutions within the University of Minnesota system – the Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI), Minnesota Geological Survey (MGS), and UMD Department of Geological Sciences. http://www.d.umn.edu/prc/

Hunger Solutions Minnesota: Hunger Solutions Minnesota (HSM) is a comprehensive hunger relief organization that works to end hunger in Minnesota. Created in 2001, HSM works to increase capacity and efficiency and to facilitate collaboration among nonprofit and state and federal government agencies working to feed the hungry today, while seeking long-term systemic solutions to end hunger in the future. Current programs focus on getting food where it is needed most, expanding the capacity of food shelves to serve their communities, generating and distributing vital funds for members, and serving as the voice of the hungry in Minnesota. http://www.hungersolutions.org/

Independent School District 696: Independent School District 696 is comprised of Ely Memorial High School and Washington Elementary. The district has 500 students who truly get the best of all educational worlds: dedicated teachers who know every student, a variety of state-caliber sports and extracurricular activities in which to excel, and a safe environment and supportive community in which to learn. http://www.ely.k12.mn.us/

Friends of the Trees of Ely: The Friends of the Trees of Ely is a group of Ely residents, visitors and friends dedicated to helping the city of Ely plant, maintain and protect the city’s trees. Donations are used to replant trees on Ely’s boulevards, plant new trees on the Trezona Trail and in Ely city parks, as well as hire consultants as needed to maintain the vitality of the area’s urban forest. https://sites.google.com/site/treesofely/home

St. Louis County and Lake County Rescue Squads: The St. Louis County Rescue Squad assists the sheriff by performing search and rescue services to citizens and visitors in St. Louis County. The Lake County Rescue Squad is an organization dedicated to assisting the Lake County sheriff in fulfilling the duties of the office with regards to search and rescue of lost or missing persons and to respond to water or other emergencies. Northwoods Partners: Since its beginning in 2001, Northwoods Partners (NP) has evaluated and supported clients and their caregivers to help them to remain living independently in their own homes for as long possible. NP’s mission is to provide support services that enhance the quality of life for individuals who are aged, chronically ill, or disabled and for their families and caregivers. http://northwoodspartners.org/

Ely Greenstone Public Art: Ely Greenstone Public Art’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Ely area through the creation of public works of art and to provide educational opportunities for the benefit of the general public. The organization participates in the creation of an environment which encourages the community of artists to utilize their talents to the fullest extent. Ely Greenstone Public Art is also the manager of the city of Ely’s Pioneer Mine Complex. http://elygreenstone.org/

Mesabi Symphony Orchestra: The mission of Mesabi Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is to keep classical music alive and thriving on Minnesota’s Iron Range. The musicians of MSO are committed to artistic excellence, community, and lifelong learning. MSO presents a total of six concerts per year, comprising of three concert series and two performances per series.
